INDUSTRY

Skillset manages an ongoing programme of research and consultation to make sure that we know the industry’s current and future skills gaps and training needs. We use this information to steer our investment decisions, so that our funding goes directly to the training that will have the greatest impact on UK film.

We also fund trainees to come into the industry in areas of greatest demand. The new Skillset Craft and Technical Academy launched in March 2011, which will deliver top quality trainees in craft and technical departments into industry.  Producers who pay the Skills Investment Fund (SIF) can apply for trainees on their productions.

We invest in a range of courses, subsidising the cost of training for people working in the film industry to make it more affordable and accessible.

* Of course, some films need more or less people; but they all need skills and training.
