ENHANCING HEALTH AND SAFETY SKILLS
Having consulted with industry it is clear that there is a need for more widespread health and safety training for both new and existing professionals. It is underpinned by sound financial and business requirements, since failures of health and safety can have huge financial implications.
Ensuring the safety of the workforce and the financial attractiveness of the UK to production investment, Skillset funds health and safety training that meets National Occupational Standards and that
is validated in the joint Health and Safety Framework, which ensures pan-industry recognition of training.
As part of A Bigger Future 2 Skillset is supporting health and safety training that meets the latest government standards and feeds into the Skills Passport scheme. This allows individuals to promote their skills and gain from them, whilst enabling employers to easily confirm the quality of health and safety understanding amongst prospective staff.
Funding for Health and Safety training
Skillset provides funding for for individuals to help them subsidise the cost of training on a range of identified health and safety courses. Industry professionals are eligible for up to £800 as a freelancer or £500 as an employee towards up to 80% (freelancer) or 50% (employee) of their course fee.
