TRAINING IN NEW TECHNOLOGIES

The pace of technological change in film shows no signs of slowing down. To maintain a leading position in world film and stay ahead of the curve, it is essential that the UK workforce is not only up to date with these changes, but is leading the way in implementing and exploiting them.

A Bigger Future 2 has identified four key areas where developing additional skills could have real economic benefits for the industry and is investing in training for the existing workforce in new industry practices:

  • 3D; including its impact on production, exhibition and distribution.
  • HD; including its impact on filming and production techniques, as well as distribution.
  • Digital; including both its current and future impact on business models across the production, exhibition and distribution spectrum.
  • Specialist Software; including updating skills in specific editing, VFX and production packages.
