THE PRIORITIES

Skillset’s core goal is to protect and help create job opportunities within the UK film industry.  This can be achieved through making the UK an ever more attractive market for film makers both at home and internationally.

Throughout 2009 Skillset consulted on current and future training needs with a wide range of organisations, including employers, trade associations, unions and guilds, as well as drawing input directly from industry professionals.

This research has led to the identification of the following five key priorities that we believe will have the greatest economic impact on the future success and sustainability of the UK film industry:

 Training in new technologies

 Improving business skills

 Developing creative talent

 Supporting new industry trainees

 Enhancing health and safety skills

A Bigger Future 2 will focus on addressing these priorities through funding training and development initiatives that help the UK film industry build on their skills in these areas.

* Of course, some films need more or less people; but they all need skills and training.
