TRAINEES

The film and media industries can be hard to break into. Skillset funds structured training programmes to support talented people entering the film industry in the areas where our industry research and consultation has shown there are skills gaps.

Skillset Craft and Technical Skills Academy

What is it?

The Skillset Craft and Technical Skills Academy has been established in response to an on-going need: if the UK is to maintain its reputation for world class film and TV production, then we must continue to invest in the skills of the craft and technical crew.

Working closely with studios, film industry companies, Guilds and Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College we will provide training, apprenticeships and qualifications for people working within the craft and technical departments of the UK film industry.

Who funds the Skillset Craft and Technical Skills Academy?

The Skillset Craft and Technical Skills Academy is made possible through funding received from industry contributions to the Skills Investment Fund (SIF), the voluntary levy on productions filmed in the UK, and is part of Skillset’s ‘A Bigger Future 2’ initiative.

Who is it for?

Wherever you are in your film career you could benefit from the Skillset Craft and Technical Skills Academy, which provides training and career support to film professionals, film trainees and those new to the film industry. The Skillset Craft and Technical Academy is working closely with industry to develop training that is relevant and most effective at responding to current skills needs.
